Convention 2009 Rules Changes
ATTENTION ALL RIDERS AND JUDGES
RULES CHANGES AS OF CONVENTION 2009:
Rule Book (RB) Section 5.1b
Display Scoreboards - may not have the running time displayed
RB Section 7.4
Strike the word painted from description of barrels used.
Add "unaltered" to the description of barrels.
Allow tight fitting barrel covers to be used.
RB Section 6.14
Add Section 6.14h, CGA judges have the option to be on inactive status for up to one year (with current membership) when they request the status with the State Office or their Master Judge. If they are inactive for over one year, they must judge with an active judge until they are "up to speed" and then seek approval from their Master Judge for reinstatement to active status. After one year of expired CGA membership, judges lose status and if they want to become a judge again, they must start the process over.
RB Section 3.1a
Clarification of the consequences for riders under 18 not following the helmet rule. If a rider under 18 is mounted on a horse without a helmet they will be asked to dismount until properly attired and a warning will be issued. If a rider under 18 enters the arena without a helmet correctly worn, they will be disqualified from the event. If a rider under 18 has more than one helmet violation on the same day, they will be disqualified from the show.
RB Section 5.11
Clarification of the consequences for members who violate the drug or alcohol rule. Anyone who has been seen violating or willfully admits to violation of the drug & alcohol rule when questioned shall be notified by a judge that they are banned from further participation in the show for the rest of the day.
RB Section 4.3
Add a final sentence to the paragraph that shall read "By starting the course, the rider accepts the course, as long as the course is legal."
RB Section 2.3
Lead Line wording change - both in the heading and first sentence shall read "Special Lead Line rules for riders who need assistance / The CGA is interested in providing an opportunity for riders who need assistance to participate in CGA shows.
RB Section 4.1
Add Section 4.1f - "Re-Rides: The only time a rider will be required to rerun an event is if the timers malfunction or a course is improperly set. If a rider has successfully completed a legal course and then it is determined there was a problem (for instance the ground is/was unsafe or there was some sort of interference) the affected riders will be given the option for a re-ride."
